Thanks for the heads up, Miauz - for some reason, I had the broken ut2004stats database in mind a few times yesterday (even left a browser tab open there), but I only remembered to check again after you mentioned it. Anyway, I successfully managed to snag a copy of my record as a memento of all the ingame time, frags and mayhem my only UT "account" has seen these past 10+ years, and, taken as a whole, it's pretty revealing of my ...unique blend of bloody habits :). Since we seem to have a bit of a "you show me yours and I'll show you mine" situation going on already, here's the juicy digest:
peg_ut2004stats_digest_26-10-2018.png
In case anybody else wants to archive their stats too, here's a couple o' pointers you might find useful.
First, if you want your stats to remain in an analyzable state (i.e. in text format so you can copy/paste it), consider visiting a web archiving service like archive.is, pasting your playerstats' unique url at its top (red) textbox and clicking "save"; after the retrieval and storing process completes, you'll be offered a link to which you can point others you might wanna share your stats with, and which, if you visit, you'll see an exact HTML copy of that ut2004stats page. Edit: obviously, you can also just do this via your browser's File > Save Page As... functionality after you've made your Menu Bar visible.
Alternatively, if you don't care about the raw info and just want an overall sheet of your bloody track record to glance at whenever you fancy, just snapping a picture of your online UT profile's entire page and saving that as a jpg/png image might be the better option. For Firefox users like myself, I know of two ways to achieve that. Either open the development tools bar (via F12), click the gear icon at the top right hand side, tick the "Take a screenshot of the entire page" box, and then click on the newly appeared camera icon to snap a picture of the entire page and have it saved in your browser's default download folder; or, much more easily, you can just use an add-on like (the kinda antiquated and not compatible with Firefox versions beyond 57, although there's probably others that are) Pearl Crescent Page Saver, whereby a right click on a non-interactive part of any page would offer the option to "Save Image of Entire Page" to the folder of your choice.

Happy cruisin' down UT memory lane - careful not to step into any gibs or bloody pools :p.

Epic UT99 & UT2004 Stats Databases Going Offline 2018-10-26

Giving an update here just to say that it seems like Epic decided not to take down the server. It's still accessible a couple of days after Flak said that it would be turned off.

Here's an archived page from today for proof:

https://web.archive.org/web/20181029074 ... games.com/

Also, the player issue got fixed. Perhaps Epic was going to shut the servers down because of that, but decided not to after the problem went away?

Also, to my limited knowledge, it appears that the UT99 stats server was taken down 15 years ago, coinciding with the release of UT2003. Does anyone know if Epic began hosting another one since then?

This whole announcement was odd.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up just yet. Maybe they were just too busy with other stuff to shut the stats server down.

R.I.P. EpicStatServer. * 18. March 2004 _ † 4. Dec. 2018
Thanks to Flak who tried to save it. She also told me that they were not allowed to copie the database and make it open. The management may just decidet to delete the history without any backup. They may have done it now. If anybody has saved it, it would be appreciated when it would made public.

So I downloaded a bit to save a little history. It's not even close to everything, nevertheless a huge number of files. Uncompressed ~20 GB and with zip ~4.08 GB, rar and 7zip are lower, but I used zip for the mac users. The file was compressed with 7zip.
Feel free to do whatever you like with the files and share them. Just give some credits to the work which my Labtop did. =D
https://www.mediafire.com/file/6d5th339 ... r.zip/file

Code: Select all

HTTrack Website Copier/3.49-2 mirror complete in 31 days, 0 hours 52 minutes 1 seconds : 916955 links scanned, 792383 files written (17712681053 bytes overall), 699304 files updated [2418488588 bytes received at 901 bytes/sec], 16609042460 bytes transferred using HTTP compression in 688387 files, ratio 13%, 17.3 requests per connection

(121662 errors, 3038 warnings, 0 messages)
Every "error" is a server because the tracker obviously couldn't start the game. You can take a look at the IP:Ports in the log file.
The newest data is also from the date when I first lanched it, so the newest aren't there.

When you want to find your data the best would be to use your ID and type the URL directly. You can't use the search functions from the pages. But you can sort the players bye ID, or name and than try to find the right page. To open it save the files on your PC and uncompress it (My main PC was needing 30 mins with 6 kernals to compress it.) than go to the "index.html" within the folder and open it local in a browser. (Don't try to move or copie the uncompressed files to another physical medium as it will take some days.)

And in case you don't havethem already, here are many custom-map musik files (2.41 GB):

P.S. We are on to create our own stat collection, it is looking good so far, but needs some more time until it's working perfect. Actually Ema and Wid are on it, so many κῦδος (kudos) to them, thank you.

And here is the real reason why the EpicStatsServer was closed:
