I like the diversity of maps - and I think as a community we do a good job of not forcing a single map style on players.

Likewise we need to have small quick maps when there's just a few of us having a quick game, and a few big maps for when the server fills up and we want to play something longer with a bit more depth.

Personally I think ONS isn't really about vehicles, its about teamwork and tactics. Sometimes the vehicles are an integral part - like where you have to work together to support a few important ones - but other times having a lot of vehicles all over the map is a distraction. I don't think an ONS NV map is really played like a DM or TDM map*.

* Some players do play in DM style though - one time there was one of these players going after a critical node, so I just winged him with the minigun from a distance and took off; he chased me all over the map while the rest of my team killed the core :)

I would say few players build nodes and do other ONS things, while all other players just play DM...

sorry if im wrong but i believed the purpose of the onslaught mode was to take nodes in order to destroy the core. IMO then a NV maps or with vehicules doesnt change anything. The only thing who change is the mind game. As you said, players play DM , but indirectly, i think a part comes from the number of players.

Less people plays DM in panalesh or Magicisle and Stonewall is really different when you play with 15 or 32 players.Small maps are really nice when there is not alot of players. If the server is full, its more a fireworks of comboshock. I agree with lilalurl for a limited number of players. After, i know nothing about server and all, so maybe its so difficult, i dont know...

Personnally i like both but i cannot play only big or small maps everytime, as you said the diversity is the force and the vote make the rest

The DM-style maps tends to form a sequence. Today we have played:

ONS-BitchSlap-With-Slap!-SP3
ONS-THI-TripleSlap-SP1
ONS-Tyrant-{KL}-BigAl-V2 (well, this breaks sequence a bit)
ONS-Stonewall-[TC]-VKedit2E[NV]
ONS-VK'S-PLAYGROUND!-V3
ONS-SpankJox-SP2 21

Then, finally, DM-style maps ended and I thought that I finally can play ONS, but... most the people left the server (it was 2 o'clock). That's so sad. Guys, are you came CEONSS to play ONS, or TDM???? :blah:

Hey SpaceEngineer, I love all those maps (apart from SpankJox) but they are definitely ONS maps not TDM, as you play them with a node capture strategy (You can score as many kills as you like and still your team can lose, especially on Stonewall.)

I've played some of the same maps on CEONSS as ONS and on LDG/Ballistic as Freon and the style of play is completely different.

I know the difference between ONS and TDM. But map design... For exaple beloved by many Slap and TripleSlap - there is no tactics then can be effectively used there. Central nodes are too close to upper nodes and gens contantly spammed. Upper central nodes are good for strategic capture, but they are too far and there is no save path to them (it's almost impssible to reach them not coming under enemy fire). And there too less wehicles, the central nodes even does not have any car. Thus game on this maps always goes to overtime. This is not mean the map is well balanced, this mean the map is badly designed.

My spies reported in, and they reported an incerest guy,
who is surfing in Hawaii beach with straw and ketchup in one hand and frisbeeing with a dog in same time. :cool2cool:
I do'nt want to disturb him in resting, therefore i askin' the others, for the following:
The NV maps is "refreshing diversions", i agree, but sometimes i can't feel my virtual legs and my real fingers...
What am i? A jumpy-bumpy bunny?
Any chance to someone edit the maps and put into some jump points or teleports (just like in the bridge of fate)?

Well, more several weeks, and x-mas is here.
I can't found any ons-xmas map... but some ctf map available, such as acidpipe-xmas.
We can hold an xmas-flag day? I will sacrifice my legs for this noble purpose. Or someone can edit this maps too... :shifty:

My last annoying* question:
Lying fallow for some interesting maps which is not configured for full house,
so made up to 16 players, such as ons-answan. For this, it was not already available on the server.
However, there are few players in the mornings there. So what's your oppinions in this matter?

*I know it is... don't be too nice :p
