I strongly double Funky's post. Also, I've done putting my yesterday doubts into words.
The original map is Bombing Run, therefore it'll most probably contain:
- a narrow path from ONS core/BR gates to allow for last second kill
- a big "hall" after it to allow for normal gates defence
- multiple ways from one "hall" to another to carry the ball
- most probably, a central hall for a spectacular massacre
- most probably, some rat holes between different parts of the map
It's OK for ONS if set up correctly, but here is what we have with Instagib:
- instant death (hard to get to the core through last passage)
- no AoE damage (hard to abuse narrow passages)
So, the action is nice in the halls, but it sucks in the small rooms/passages and strongly sucks near the core.
Possible solutions for this map:
- less nodes in the rooms, more rooms in the open areas
- wider and shorter passages / more passages to same room. E.g., the elevated passages between central halls + the ground-level passage are nice
- shorter ways from nodes to action (too many time is spent on running vs on fighting)
- more open core (it's behing a pillar now, too hard to damage it if the defending team is not asleep)
I dont understand whats the problem with this map now? after Cat fixed it, its good, i like it, you know, from time to time its good to play a map where im not getting spammed to death with rockets shot to my feet, or getting flaked from the other side of the map. i can give you a demo to see it from another point of view
The map plays very well with 10-20 players on it, and people really seemed to like it, it's just when it gets played with 20+ that it become a completely different map. You could question why people vote for it when the server is busy, but they do the same with other smaller maps and larger ones when there's only a handful of people on
I'm convinced now that this idea will work, I just need to find the right map.
If anyone has any suggestions i'm all ears.

I would prefer it if we didn't modify one of our current popular maps for this. In my mind that wouldn't make the roster any more appealing to the players, I want to "add" something to the roster not just modify it. We also have an unofficial policy of not having duplicate maps before anyone asks
Last year I download every Onslaught map I could find and in the end worked through over 3000 of them. I'm fairly sure we can find a something that is not on the roster to work with.
Any thoughts about Wormbo's Deck16?. It seems to overcome many of the issues raised. I haven't ask permission yet, just so you know.

Instagib + Low Grav don't mix well.
1.This combination would make airbound targets easier to kill.
2.The SSR has a great "push power" which means if you shoot at your teammate who is in air, s/he will fly out of the safe landing zone.
Moreover, the map is painfully dark and there is no brightskins. It makes instagib even more painful.
