Maybe I'll try installing it on my UT laptop. It has Win 8.1 on there, which makes the laptop unusable for anything else. If Win 10 makes things worse, I'll dig out the original 8.1 installation disc...

I'm still of the view that Win 7 is the best system for UT2K4, Win 8 is pretty horrible and I've abandoned the idea of Win10 completely now, not worth the effort for what I need which is speed and stability, it has neither - in copious amounts!
Thankfully since Linux is my main OS, once I've completed the current jobs outside of my forces duties then Windows is gone completely.
Just got to hope Epic can get UT4 running reasonably well on Linux , it's pretty dire right now but then again so is the windows version lol

Put Win 10 on my UT laptop and got this:

Microsoft...should be, well,...defenestrated!
Any ideas what to do? I'm not even Xac on a laptop anymore!

Looks a bit like an error I've gotten before (unrelated to Win 10).

I just ignore it.

Unfortunately, I can't ignore the message as it won't allow UT to run. As soon as I click on UT2004, I get this error and the game won't start.

The two proposed fixes are:
If you can still run UT2004 in windowed mode, try disabling bReduceMouseLag for the D3D renderer.
If that doesn't work, you will have to switch to the OpenGL renderer.
IMHO Win10 just isn't worth all the trouble yet. If you still have Win7, you might want to stick with that for now. Win10 may eventually become a usable OS, but about none of Microsoft's operating systems has been the better choice over anything else this soon after launch.

I changed the "full screen" to "False" in the UT ini file and now it will run ok in a window.
Progress...sort of
I also was amazed at the need to sort out all the privacy options. Loads of apps running in the back ground by default with the ability to access camera and mic!

Xac - apply the 64bit patch and it will work under Windows 10 with no problem
Still runs like a bag of sh*t though

Zony, are you running the 64-bit version as well? That's the one I'm using.
