Between the billions of daily queries, most people think that nobody actually pays attention to what they google, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Big Brother's always there watching what you search for, and judging you for it...
Disclaimer: while it's probably true that there are no taboos to comedy, there are several matters in life that it pays to not consider only in joking terms. Digital rights, and specifically those pertaining to privacy, unfettered communicating and freedom from undue searches n' seizures on the global net, are matters of paramount importance and a front where a virtual war of values between citizens and states regarding surrendering certain rights in favour of presumably better security, is currently being waged. How things develop on that front in the immediate future in various places around the world will no doubt shape everyone's experience with the Web for a long time to come, and it's something everyone should have a say in.
Many people consider the MEP elections a joke, but the trashing of the copyright strengthening ACTA legislation in 2012, especially in the face of its previously presumed inevitability, aptly demonstrated that citizens' will around the EU through their MEPs' voices can sometimes be the last bastion of control and freedom we have at our disposal, and it's an example we shouldn't forget because more attempts like that will keep coming around. The MEP elections are coming up again in May and lately I've been devoting a bit of time again to look into what our current MEPs have been voting for since the last one and consider who best deserves my support this time around. Have you?

Imagine how broader an audience it could address or how many more Oscars Gravity might've won if its director, Alfonso Cuaron, had been allowed to stick with his original vision...
