Haven't heard of this guy before, but really love this song. Finally some decent German music again.
Maxim - Rückspiegel (rear mirror)
Here is a little translation of the chorus:
"And luck is standing in front of you at the street
and holding it's thumb out,
but everything happens so fast that you always only notice it
when you gaze in the rear mirror.
And then it is way too late to stop,
then you have to keep going straight ahead,
until luck flashes you by again,
because you are constantly watching the rear mirror."

Here's a nice romantic, melancholic piece for a change. A country / folk style song performed by James Levy and Allison Pierce, produced by Coldplay bass player Guy Berryman (a friend of Allison Pierce) along with an interesting video:

Hey, remember this video from a year ago where Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield performed his own rendition of David Bowie's Space Oddity aboard the ISS with a guitar he'd brought along himself, right before heading home? Well, funny story 'bout that, but suffice it to say, our Glorious Culture Gatekeepers have worked their magic once again.
In this particular debacle, the video was allowed to stay online only for a year, after which the license lapsed and it (relatively) quietly vanished 3 days ago. A request to renew it and reallow access to the 22-million-times watched video has been made, but given the "complications" that arise from the whims of "David Bowie's people" and the piece being a recording made in a multi-jurisdictional location such as the ISS (as the Economist explains in more detail here), which took months to hash out in the first place, the chances of such a renewal happening don't look too good. Only remaining alternative for watching the video right now is Sky News' own, lower-Q cap that for some strange reason has been allowed to remain up, and which I'm embedded below:

2015 Edit: original YT vid now working again:
Copyright - because promoting arts and sciences, and preserving records of historically important cultural events only makes sense if there's something in it for us. Thanks for your support though /fingergun!

Hey Pega, I downloaded a 720p version of it before Youtube killed it, it's on my dropbox if anyone wants a copy - link below.
Currently my favorite song! I saw this new band (from Austria) live when they were the opening act for a concert from the Jezables (another band I love). They are really good. Don't let the "huuuuu"s at the beginning stop you from listening to this one till the end!

Thanks, Droopy, but I don't think there's any need to worry 'bout that. It's been almost 20 years now since the Copyright Industry was last able to dictate, and actually enforce, what kinda culture & knowledge people can or can't share with each other around the world - add another 20 to that for the more local (and analog) side of that same story. Still, since they frequently tend to forget about that fact, it helps to remind 'em of it as often as we can. To that end, the magic number this time around is 40954693C7BBC0E0804B2F45AA139EF47E61BAEC. Have fun .
Edit: what's that now? This post is inadmissible in the Music thread without a song? Alrighty then, here you go:

Yeah, just thought I'd save people who don't (or can't) torrent Peg ;-)
One related fact, more money is being spent blocking torrent search sites than the government spent on Testicular Cancer research in the last year!
So bowing down to big business is more important than all our bollocks, seems a little unfair to me!
