Trust someone who'd have ppl over to Germany and be planning to feed 'em pasta & pizza ? I may've never been to Germany, but I've been to a few German food n' beer fests to know better than that.

It's a trap!

It'll be more like
Beer at breakfast, homemade beer at lunch and a cool beer on evening
You can also have some sauerkraut with it, but that'll cost extra. :p

Don't forget the currywurst...or was I not supposed to mention that? :D

New Development:

After pestering my parents yet again, we have decided to switch homes for this event. So my parents will be in my apartment and enjoy Berlin, while we can get our house in Hannover for 4 days (Thursday to Sunday). Little brother will participate, though. :|

Possible dates for this will be during my semester break:

27th Feb. - 2nd March

6th March - 9th March

20th March - 23rd March

Now.....how about those days?

(Are you guys even okay with coming to my house? We have 2 showers, 3 toilets, 9 sleeping spots (including the sofa; people would need to share rooms; 2 sleeping spots taken by little bro and me), sleeping bags for 2 more people... Hannover has an airport (HAJ), a major train station and is located at the Autobahn A2 and A7.)

Simple quesiton, purely from a non-commital/advisory standpoint here: UT2004's 10th anniversary may be in mid-March, but CEONSS' 5th birthday is also up ahead and around late-Oct/early-Nov (first msg board post here is dated Nov 3rd 2009; before that it's all kinda hazy :p). Why not split the difference and aim for the get-together to be sometime during the summer, which would also allow for more ppl to attend? Mid-March seems like a particularly tough time to plan for, what with many folks likely being either too busy with work or their regular spring [cleaning] schedule? If observing Epic's release date is not a negotiable constraint though, okay, I guess, go for it.

Actually, I had wanted to do it in summer, but Xac brought up the good point that it's off-season and therefore will be cheaper, at least for people coming in by plane. March would work for most students, I think. I personally don't care for release dates and stuff. It just seemed like a relatively good time. If more people want to do it in summer or later this year, I'd need to re-negotiate it with my parents and I would need to wait a few months until their plans for summer are semi-clear, so that would put all planning on hold for a few months. :(

I suppose we could even do this one in Germany in March and a second one somewhere in Britain in the fall. We have a lot of options to work with.

Anyway, what do other people think? Is it doable for you in March? Would you prefer some other time? It's a bit difficult to organize things with hardly anyone speaking up about what's convenient for you. ;)

For me, I simply do not know. I'm trying to get a different job and, presuming I get one, I'll have no idea what dates I'll be free until closer the time.

Also, I'd be cool with going to your house. Sure does sound like you have a lot of room.

I'm ok with both March or the summer.

Mmmh... Maybe summer could be better, after all: even if March is off-season, the airplane tickets of the low cost companies for a flight in summer (several months from now), could cost less now. Also, Peg is right that in summer we could gather more players.

I would be totally okay with your parents house, sounds like you have a lot of room! (3 toilets? Where am I, at the Hilton? :D)

I kinda feel guilty for the fact that, if we opt for summer, you'd need to re-negotiate the thing with you parent... But I suppose it'd be for a good cause... -.-"

Yupp, I would need to figure out when they have time again and they said they don't really know that far in advance. I'm not actually sure how far in advance you'd be able to book your flight.

Also, if we gather more than 12 people (absolute max), we will need to find a new place. That's really the max for our house. (Not the Hilton....just a house in which a family of 6 lived.) In that case we'll need to rent a place somewhere. I've looked around a bit and we're looking at 300€ at least. And not sure about what kind of sleeping options there would be. One place said that they can offer 1 shower...(yay?)
The neat thing about doing it at my place is that it would be for free, so there wouldn't be high costs apart form getting there somehow. (Since my traveling costs won't be so high, I'd pay for the majority of the food.) Especially considering we have 3 or 4 students, I want to keep the price as low as possible. That's why I was thinking about our house. Another option would be to really gather a lot of people. In that case summer might be better, because more people might be able to come and we'd have more time to organize it.

I'm fine with the current arrangement, but more players would also be exciting. It's really up to you guys.

Just some thoughts...my Monday morning brain dump through the fog of the cold I have at the moment:

I think the 20th - 23rd March option would be best to allow more time for planning travel etc, (and would also be after the 16th of March original release date ;) ). Then there are the technical logistical arrangements. 9 or so people on some of the big maps may be a bit of a small number, so we'd probably want to have the ability to go online to play on the server, so we'd need enough connections to do that. I presume we could connect 3 routers up to give enough connections? Do you have enough phone sockets for 3 routers? Most routers only have 4 ports. Hopefully your parents' broadband has enough bandwidth? Plus we'd need enough LAN cables. It would probably be a good idea to do some tests before hand to see if it's all going to work :D

Do you have a big dining table we can all set up our PCs on?
