God, this is grim. Personally he didn't strike me as the type, but there is no way to know such things for certain. I don't know if any of us knew him well enough to really know about his mental health.

Back in 2015 I sent him money to get his passport. I don't know if he ever did, but I guess there is a tiny chance he is still out there, somewhere in the EU.

Please give my warmest wishes to his aunt. You could also try asking her if his family received our card. Even if they didn't, it might give them a small amount of comfort that he had people out there who cared for him.
