Move

Just a brief heads-up, folks:
The current obvious lag problems are most likely caused by the provider. Two weeks ago, the gameplay was smooth for most of us. I didn't change any server settings but the provider moved the server to another data centre. And - all of a sudden - the server got somehow unplayable, despite all the "hard" facts like ping and packetloss, which actually seem to be pretty fine. Well, the provider is currently running a temporary connection, planning to finish the move including the main router in the mid of June.
Maybe the lag will be gone then, but maybe not.
That's why I'm already preparing another server at the moment which will be run at another provider. The server itself is already finished since Sunday. But the new provider accepts rackmount cases only. So I had to buy 19" parts, which have been delivered today. I'll assemble the server this weekend, then ship it as soon as possible. So, I'm hoping the new server will be up at the new provider in the end of next week. Unfortunately, I can't promise that. It's depending on too many variables...

Soooo ... the new server has been shipped today :yippiiieh:
With a bit of luck, it will be up on Friday :shine:
Assembling an 1U rackmount case was a bit ... errmm ... tricky, but it's done. Gonna post a picture soon.

Regarding the setup, I've focussed particularly on security improvements this time. Hacking the server would be quite a challenge now (I'm not talking about hacking the UT-application but the general server configuration ;-) ).

However, the old / current ISP moved several switches and servers including their DNS yesterday. So possibly, the gameplay might be less laggy at the moment; I doubt it though. I hope the lag will be sorted with the new ISP - they got 240 GBit/s uplinks in total :-) If it ain't any better, we could easily switch back to the old ISP. Their data centre move will be finished in the end of June (yeah indeed, a bit delayed already ...)

has nothing to do with the move. I've banned an asshole recently which keeps coming back crashing the server. Sad person.
I'm sitting here the whole day and night blocking every new IP he's coming up under...

Are the attacker's IPs from Prague again?
