Laborheinz, I was wondering, how much does it cost to run the CEONSS set up? Is it going to be something sustainable in the long term? Are a few Euros here and there going to be enough to keep it going?

Hi Xac, our monthly costs currently are:

This board: 9€
Redirect server (for map downloads): 45€
Gameserver: 105€.

Makes a total of 159€.

Good question The plan is to lower our costs. For instance, the redirect service is going to be moved from the former hardware-root onto a much cheaper virtual machine soon. And the gameserver itself will be moved to a slightly cheaper (but still top-quality) provider next January. Then, in the long run, the costs should settle around 90€ in total per month. Our current set up is kinda overkill anyway, it's only the result of all the moves from one gameserver-ISP to another (which e.g. led to using our former main server as a redirect).

Wow, so getting on for 2000 Euros per year! You don't pay all that out of your own pocket do you?

We use CEONSS on a regular basis night after night and get it for free and don't even think about what it costs...makes me feel quite guilty!

Of course, in the end someone has to pay it. The margin between costs and donations always lands on an owner's purse

Whatever, our redirect service has moved onto a cheaper virtual machine recently, so our monthly costs got down to now 9+10+105 = 124 Euros.
