Server playing silly buggers.

The server was kicking people randomly tonight. About 9.30 uk time everyone got kicked. Just got the message "connection lost".

I know, seen that. It's just been another approach to get rid of the lag. I had the ISP replacing the server NIC. The gameplay was better from my perception but if it's unstable ... well, it's not tolerable :-(

Gotta have them re-replace the NIC ASAP in order to have a stable gameplay again. And... a laggy one, too :-(

Just one question, from time to time, i'm getting kicked saying that i must change my username. this happened only on ceonss. your server doesnt likes me :)

So, the server is running the old NIC again. Should be as stable (&laggy) as always.

@Zon3r: No, you don't get kicked because of your nick. It just happens when a player gets disconnected and has to rejoin. Either the character is still (idling) on the server or you reconnect automatically renamed to "PlayerXY". In both cases the server demands of you to change your nick: if your ghost is still idling, the server doesn't accept "two players with the same nick"; having a nick like "PlayerXY" I had to prevent recently, because there was an increasing amount of *******ers, abusing this automated renaming by just wearing the nick "Player". So sometimes we had three or four "PlayerXY". Solution for you: wait 1.5 minutes until the server kicks your ghost for idling and then rejoin with your normal nick.

I had some bad times here but I've never saw the server this awful. The lag is worse than ever was, totally unplayable. Almost everybody complained about it today. Moreover it is totally full with bugs. Some guys are invulnerable, your gun shoots nothing, you can shoot trough players, vehicles, etc. :(

Hi Corvus,

sorry for the late reply. It's just because I'm always fully aware of the server's current lag situation, hence no real need to post it.

Over the past 2.5 years, I've spent so much time and money solely in order to eliminate lags. All the provider changes and hardware upgrades happened only because of lag. I didn't exactly count the sum, but it's at least 5k€, most likely considerably more, just for the lag. Plus the countless evenings and weekends I've been analysing, config changing and setting up servers.

I hope you're understanding why I haven't been in the mood to reply any sooner.

However, I'm still working on improvements. Still got several ideas for further approaches.

As u said the server moved and improved countless times in the past 2.5 years and u always asked for feedbacks. I do not know it is a continuous situation now or u’re just testing a provider again.
If u think I am blaming u for my lag&bug problems u’re wrong. Never did. I truly appreciate ur work on the server but something cannot be fixed. I want to try one more thing for a better connection but I am 90% sure I have to leave the server. Unplayable. All in all it is only my problem not yours. Sorry for bothering.

New wierd bug appeard.

Quadria: couple of times survived 200-300 damage with no shield.
Adonis: hit his tank 3(!) times with ion and caused 0(!) damage. :eh:
Kodo: hit his cicada 3 times with goliath = 0 damage.
....

Tim also complained about it and I think others got it too. Any idea what causes this?

Sorry, I've not been online for about a week. I'm convinced I found the server's lag culprit and a solution as well. Thus I'm working on that under high pressure at the moment. Gonna pop by soon again though.

My guess would be that still weird things happen because of lags / packet losses. Hence I'm working on eliminating lags / P/L at first. We'll see if such things keep happen after solving lags.

I've noticed sometimes how Raptor survive a tank shot - this is due to lags I guess. But most wierd bug is that Nuke caused 0 damage if you die before it explodes. If you die soon after its explosion, the damage stops immediately when you die. I don't know is it a bug or a feature specially coded in nuke's code. The Redeemer shows similiar behaviour, so maybe this bug is coming from Redeemer code.
