CEONSS future?

Any long term plans for the forum/server, or is it just a case of going with the flow and seeing what happens?

Lol, nicely expressed :-) Kinda both...
The goal is to have a really good ONS server. At the moment, there are two major issues: Lag and team balance - thus I'm focussing on that.
Lag: From the beginning until the end of april, there were no severe lag problems, but ever since, lag IS a problem. I've analysed it with winmtr and wireshark logs, changed MANY settings and even replaced the server hardware - without success. Now I more and more think it's provider-related. Thus I'm thinking of changing the provider, but that's a bigger part of work and a bit complicated. I'd have to have two servers for the move...
Team balance: As you might have noticed, too many matches are too short because of a bad team balance. The current auto-balancer should be improved. Unfortunately, I'm not a coder / scripter, so I've asked a guy that is skilled at coding. Still, I'm waiting for the reply ;-)

Besides these two major issues, I'd have several other ideas how to improve the server. E.g. implementing hit sounds and bright skins - but therefor, there's a coder needed as well.
And of course, there always should be some new maps in order to have a bit variety while playing.
But well, first things first: Lag & team balance...
Any further suggestions?

Sounds great. The only other suggestion i could add would be to try and get people onto the forum and downloading the map pack to not leave them waiting. I don't know about you but when I'm new to a server and I'm sitting there waiting for a map to download i tend to press F10 and join a different server. Getting more people onto the forum would also give the place a bit more of a community feel as an added bonus.

The lag can be an issue, that why i play here rather then on TechCom.

Having the odd new map is a good idea, Frostbite comes to mind ;) . Perhaps people could nominate them here, have a little vote, then add the winning map to the server once a week?

True, map downloading is annoying. But well, I'm ... a bit ... errrm ... reluctant to persuade ppl to dl the map pack :oops: . It's because it's quite big, causing huge network traffic. I hope that ppl will find the link when searching for it ;-)

Sure thing, players are invited to make map suggestions. It's one reason the forum is existing for ;)

hi there!

what do y'all think about implementing (back) the adrenaline feature? no need to edit the maps and put some adren vials there, just the idea of aquiring adrenaline by killing ppl and eventually being able to use one of the famous adrenaline combos would be not only kinda fun (e.g. when adding the miniature / camouflage combo) but also could be a gamechanger when the correct combo would be used at a correct time - or it would just help to get campers down quickly (with berserk e.g.) and so on....

was waiting some time for other players feedback. Alright, now that I have waited long enough and there are no further opinions at all, I'll post at least mine:

The adrenaline mutator is not an out-of-the-box feature for ONS. TBH I never saw any other ONS-server using it. So I don't know whether this mutator even exists. I assume you played on another ONS-server with this mut. Could you point me to this server? Or do you have a link where I can find this mut? Then I / we could check it out and then decide. I'm all for improving the gameplay and adding some more funny features. We could even check it online and then see the players feedback - and believe me: there WILL be feedback, as players use to comment EVERYTHING (mainly the lag, of course ;-) )

Anyways, the precondition is: It mustn't kick the server from the whitelist. Since it's not a default UT-feature, I doubt we are able to add it. But let's see :-D

hmm, nah I cannot remember seeing it on an ONS-Server, mainly on TDM/TAM-Servers where, once aquired 100 adrenaline, you can use a resurrection-combo that revives dead players (which is obviously unneccessary for ONS) - but which combos we enable is totally apart from gaining adren at all... Do you want me to give you an IP on which you can find this?

Once again I'm sure Wormbo knows something about this, Crusha as well (in case he follows this?), I'll ask some friends if they know anyone that knows anyone that can help with that.... would be cool, given the fact it wouldnt unwhitelist the server.

Nope, thanx. Sure thing I know the adrenaline thingy on TAM/TDM ;-)
