Freezes and bad Performance in UT2004

Hey,

i hope you guys can help me out with a little hardware prob.

I have experienced some graphic freezes and general lags in UT for one month now, which is very annoying. Today UT totally freezed and crashed while i was playing (i could end it in Task Manager) In addition to that i got shock-combo lags and a general imprecise mouse feeling.

One month ago everything was fine. I had no problems in other games so far, which doesn't mean that the prob doesn't exist there, as only in ut i recognize very small changes.

What i have tried so far:

Putting out graphics card, putting back in.
Checked all cable connections.
Checked graphics card with FurMark
Checked Ram and CPU with Prime95
Checked Ram with Memtest86

---

Config is:

Win 7 64

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
i5 3570k with Noctua NH-D14
Corsair Vengeance LP 1.5v, 1600, 16GB
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 670 OC
be quiet! Straight Power E9 CM 680W
Normal Seagate 1TB Disc
Some LG DVD
In a Fractal Design R4.

---

I have no idea where to search now. It totally makes me crazy.

Could somebody give me a hint what to do / how to do try and error?

This is your game in general and not a server?

Hm....have you had any viruses or installed new programs lately? Any new mods for UT that you've added? I guess you could always try re-installing the game and the bonus pack and patch.

Updated your drivers since it was playing fine ?. I had a similar problem with performance when i updated my GFX driver, few months back. Running a Palit GTX 670 jetstream here. Also a good thorough virus/malware scan wouldn't hurt.

If the problem still persists, then ask here > http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/

Hey Guys,

thx for the help :).

- Updated graphics drivers
- Reinstalled UT
- Complete system scan with Panda, Bitware, Antivir, Malwarebytes, HijackThis

I didn't install any mods manually and always emptied cache before reinstall.
The only two programs i recently installed on windows were Batman Arkham City and Flash Player.
No hardware changes.

Problem still persists :o

Try play "Instant Action", ONS, Torlan. Still lag? What is your FPS?
Press "~" and type "stat fps".

Heya Eman and Salko,

perhaps the singleplayer-test was the right trace.

I just played in SP and as i didn't do this for a long time - the performance totally blew my mind. I never would have thought, that online playing sucks so much of the performance! If i had this performance always... wow.

I tested 20 mins. No lags and graphic bugs, no crashes.

So what to try next now? I can't imagine, that bad UT-settings / files / bad server performance could lead to freezes and stuff?!

Greetings
Rotten

In online game, cca minute after game start, press F6 to show net-statistics (left-top corner).
1) How is your average packetloss?
2) xxxxx Speed (cca line 8)
