Being the season of creepiness/supernatural, etc the discussion of favourite scary movies came up. As a fan of the gendre I tend to purchase my favourites as I am a complete controlfreak & want to be able to enjoy them when I want to watch them.
So to get this rolling here are two movies I watch every year.
1st is Hocus Pocus.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107120/?ref_=nv_sr_1
corny but i loved it as a young person & it's still enjoyable.
2nd is Fright Night (the original)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089175/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
I love vampire movies & for some reason this one sticks with me, it has some catchy tunes like Army of the Night.
So, what do other people like? I personally like my movies with a supernatural twist on them.

Hocus Pocus is good. I always watch it every year.
I'd like to recommend a miniseries, which has a great halloween feeling, it is called Over the garden wall.

Re: Favourite Scary/Halloween movies ?
Can't say I've ever found horror as a cinema genre particularly engaging in general (just can't find anything too conceptually intriguing about it), but on the few exceptional cases where I did, the films I'd recommend here would be Event Horizon (1997) on the [meta]physical, psychological/existential end of the spectrum, and The Cabin in the Woods (2012) as a cheeky deconstruction of the typical slasher flick by geek darling director Joss Whedon.
Hope everyone had a fun Halloween yesterday, no matter what side of the pond you happen to reside in.
