Canyon Duel tight space.

I tried to penetrate a space at node 3 that I thought had ample room but I got stuck midway and was unable to dislodge. Rather than being discovered in this awkward and defenseless position I opted to suicide by firing off my rocket. Can this space be opened just a tad? Thanks.
