I wanna stress out, looking at the above post, never use v-sync if you don't want to have input lag.
It's the one option that I turn off by default on any game.

Running UT2004 on Windows 10

So.. perhaps you guys can help me to get UT2004 running on Win10

If I want to start UT2004.exe it states "An admin has blocked the execution of this app" (red windows message)
I have admin rights on my account of course and my first suspect is the smart screen filter

Any idea of what is going on? Thanks in advance!

Hi Narko! Great to see you again!

I wonder if it has to do with your installation path. Wormbo mentioned something like that to me when I had problems. Did you by any chance install your game under Program Files?

Hey Ema! :)

Thanks for the reply. I have looked into it and was able to solve it by doing the following (perhaps this might help other users too):

1) Activate hidden admin account on Windows 10
2) Switch to this admin account and install the game directly on C: partition (NOT IN PROGRAM FILES!!) as well as latest patch (e.g. by installing the ut2004 megapack)

This solved it and I am now able to play by using my default account (not the hidden admin account).
Works like a charm and I have also played some rounds on CEONSS a couple of days ago.

I am so bad after not playing for so long and got pwned by pretty much everyone

Cu soon again on the server perhaps ;)

Gonna necro this thread because a discussion about the selection lag in the editor came up again yesterday.

With my previous hardware/gpu, I used the NVIDIA control panel to set custom settings for the Editor, and was able to reduce the lag.

I upgraded my hardware including gpu last year, but did not have to use the NVIDIA control panel so far. I have some selection delay, but within tolerable range. Here is my current configuration and some tips that might help:

- running the editor with admin rights (based on what Wormbo said about UT2004 assuming it has admin rights to the game folder)
- runnning the editor in compatibility mode for Win XP Service Pack 2
- only using Realtime Preview for the Dynamic Light window, using it for more windows will result in lag
- primarily selecting items in the Top, Front or Side view windows, where the selection is instant
- selection via the Dynamic Light window is delayed, but gets faster if you zoom into the item that you want to select/ there aren't many other items in the background

My terrain tool window is still broken and occasionally the editor becomes unresponsive for a bit, but it is generally tolerable enough to get some editing done.

Miau found a solution for my broken terrain tool. If yours also looks like this:
Broken terrain tool.JPG
Broken terrain tool.JPG (37.56 KiB) Viewed 35780 times
Then try:

Delete all entries in your UT2004\System\User.ini under [WindowPositions]
