Huh, figures something like this would go down during the one week I'm indisposed and can't pay much attention to web affairs :/. Oh well, given my tardiness here, most of what I'd in mind to say has already been mentioned, so I'm just gonna have to echo pretty much everyone else in saying what a damn shame it is to be losing a player like you, senior Timbo. It's been great fun fighting with ya - and even more so against you

- and hell knows, the server can't afford to lose mature, gracious and sportsmanlike guys like you these days; not that we ever exactly felt any more comfortable about such kind of a proposition, but with the metaphorical noose evermore tightening around this game's neck, every added departure of a valued regular registers that much more dearly.
Frustrations and indignation pertaining to other players' voting or playing habits have always been around simply on account of differing tastes and levels of maturity. While I believe that the situation on CEONSS has always been considerably more tolerable, compared to many other places I've frequented during my ONS playing years, and that lately, thanks to the addition of our 2 ingame admins, we've arrived at a point where it's now easier than ever to sort out troublemakers and preserve a peaceful and civil ingame playing environment for everyone, content-related disputes in terms of voting preference are still unavoidable.
Between being well aware for a while now of the kinda influence the various playstyle-based entrenched subgroups within the server exert when it comes to roster changes and the predictable knee-jerk reactions that would follow the removal of any of their favourite maps, on one hand, and our own intention to finally reform a sizable part of the roster towards more balanced, pluralistic and maybe even more nuanced content based on a concrete and clearly laid out ideology on the other, content management has been a pretty wild beast to tame, no doubt. Hasn't helped things that few ppl ever bother to actually come here and add their voice and thoughts to the process to help guide our hand either, even if their input were to consist mostly of known gripes and protests - no legitimate concern that enters the discussion would ever be considered "moaning" by us, I assure you. Because of all that, so far we'd been mostly trying to make do using the existing tools at our disposal we felt could help and trying out voting method alternatives was just another possible way of somewhat bridging the gulf between the hitscanners' NV affinity and the tank campers' obsession with the (stupid strong) custom vec maps. It's been tried before in the past and, if you'll recall, it didn't stick which is why voting got changed back to the default behaviour. Experience, then, suggests that if accumulative voting (and the spec sniping practices it tends to bring about, as I've discussed before) turns out not to jive with what the community needs, it'll eventually get overturned again, so that's one server feature I definitely wouldn't describe as "something I know will not change". I'd say, give it just a bit of time.
Still, after a long time of playing it mostly by gut/ear and with a mind of mostly trying to keep everyone equally happy, however, lately we've managed to lay some foundations in the policy department and we're now finally making headway towards putting together something comprehensive that later this year should enable us to proceed with the roster reform while staying consistent with our principles and mission statement. When those changes start rolling in, I believe it's gonna prove to be a very interesting time for most veteran ONS players still approaching the gametype with a mindset of having some ggs per playing session instead of just experiencing a sequence of one-track-minded playground maps. So if your urge to take some time off is still driving your decisions, my advice to you would be to take a walk around, get as much downtime you need, but just don't wander too far away for now

. Also, DM is your standby choice here, man? Damn. I mean, it'd be bad enough for ONS to be down one cool person, but losing 'em to the DM twitch monkey army and their one-trick gig would be too low a blow to take in :/. If you think ONS can get old quick when ppl act like jerks around spawnpoints, you're in for a treat once you pick a random, populated Rankin server and dive in.
Anyway, sorry for going off on a rant there again. While I hope you'd reconsider and give things another try (maybe shift your gaming schedule around by an hour to get a better crowd even), I wanna wish you good luck with whatever you decide to do - for fun or profit - and just end with saying, I hope to still see you around CEONSS, ingame or just here

.
Careful playing with your real guns, btw; AFK respawns times are still pretty dreadful from what I hear
