Although we've finally seen the last of 2024, the tidal waves it produced will no doubt keep on wreaking havoc for a long time to come. While the year that was certainly took no pity on me or mine, I'm getting the sense that a whole lot of other people 'round the world are also unlikely to miss it one bit. Considering the overall upheaval, animosity, and conflict we witnessed throughout its course, hopefully I'm in good company when, instead of bidding it adieu, I can only think of "good riddance" as it goes.
Twitter's still a cultural cesspool, inflicting daily harm upon the global collective consciousness, as most must have realized by now, but, on the plus side, I have been able to rely on a couple o' handy tools throughout these past 12 months that allowed me to still peruse it and forage for the occasional funny pic as a guest, so that should count for something, right? Well, for the purposes of this topic, we might as well focus on that slim silver lining and say it does. And since this is where we find ourselves again, it's time to review what those stashed pics might reveal about 2024 when strung together in the loosest of narrative threads. One rub of the proverbial crystal ball and off we go.

Amid all the antipathy towards the status quo and those who benefit most from maintaining it, late this year came one violent event that steered people's thoughts and desire for change down a pretty radical road, all owed to an "activist" named Luigi. Soon, others started publicly musing about similar kinds of... direct action as methods of revolution-triggering, involving other Nintendo characters.

Surely this is all borne of misinformed malice. After all, when have the fat cats ever provoked anyone with their lifestyle to deserve such hate?

Okay, so maybe they could use some tearing down, but before pursuing some kinda harebrained purge-like plan, remember: they're pretty well defended behind tall walls.

Okay fine, so maybe getting to the uber rich isn't impossible on its own, but remember: they're likely still surrounded by plenty of hired goons.

Okay, but even if oligarchs' on-premises defenses aren't impregnable, remember: it's still hard to lay hands on, and redistribute, virtual assets.

Okay, even if you could snatch some of their e-loot with your masterful hacking skills, don't forget: it wouldn't take long before they caught wind of the plan to wring them dry and high-tailed it to some exotic safe haven.

Okay, I'm starting to think the requirements for this presumably crowd-sourced "eat the rich" plan are getting kinda unrealistic here. Perhaps we'd achieve better results through a simpler perspective shift in our approach?

Perhaps simpler solutions - say, higher taxes for millionaires and universal healthcare for the rest - could get the job done without the need for all that messy dogfights-based class warfare. It'd be cheaper, too, plus it would also leave more time for an evening swing by the pub, you know?

Just maybe give it one more go-over while the holidays last before committing to any grand plan is all I'm saying, from one fat cat gourmand to another ;).

Happy New Year, CEONSS :).
