Re: Youtube Films
Not too sure this thread is a good idea, Cat :/. These vids might somehow have managed to elude YT's Content ID detection algorithm (there's some easy way to do that with clips, like de-/increase speed by >=7% or mirror/flip the image), but they're still full length copyrighted works of Hollywood studios, not public domain content, and all it would take would be a DMCA (or EU equivalent) takedown request from 'em or one of their lackey lawyer outfits to the msg board's host for everything here to be shut down and locked up until heinz clears it up by removing the "offending" content or link to content or link-to-link to content (repeat ad nauseam) and maybe even sign off some ridiculous "educational" paperwork stating he understands how "serious" copyright infringement is and won't have it happen again on his site. Then some more time would have to pass for the host to unclench their buttcheeks before the site n' msg board got reinstated. Fun stuff all around.
Point is, Copyright laws are a damn mess across the modern, Western world, but until our generation manages to wrestle control of the legislative process away from the Big Content cartel and all the politicians in their payroll through serious backlash, protesting (hello, SOPA) and organized litigation where necessary (the EFF helps there), we need to play things smart and not open ourselves up to easy hits. This thread seems like a gaping vulnerability in that sense. IMO, anyway. Sorry to kill your buzz there :/. Still, there's always other ways to get those films (or any other) from the internet without even having to concern oneself with YT's format and buffering based restrictions on portability and manner of watching
.
PS: Fifth Element kicks ass!

Re: Youtube Films

Sorry Peg. TBH I thought it was only the uploader who could get into trouble. Didn't know it could risk the forum, even on a temp basis.
