The TED in TED Talks stands for "Technology, Entertainment and Design" and is a relatively new, presentation-based concept/venue where brilliant ideas and innovation can get exposed to a global audience. The 'x' in TEDx, well, is probably for everything extra outside of those domains. When it comes to art, some of the TEDxTalks I've watched on YT have featured artists doing something wacky, ranging between experimental and pretentious, but usually not too awesome.
