First time a LAN party went down at chez Peg it was between a 486 and a Pentium linked via BNC (coaxial cable specifically for binary networking you sorta screwed into each net card) on the same big hall table and with the towers placed near each other to block view cheating. Mostly went down between me and a neighborhood friend (my bro was never much of a challenge) and we're talking skirmish matches in C&C Red Alert on Win95 back in 1997. Last time was probably a couple o' years later with Worms 2 maybe, not entirely sure now. I miss those times. Now there's probably 4 UT-capable machines in the networked family house (well, 3 for sure) and so little time for gaming in general...

Still, make it to Athens and we'll see what we can manage :).

You cheeky bas- ! Btw, it's actually "ine* (third person, present tense of "is") in the first one, "then" (general negatory particle, pronounced just as in English) for the second one and no 'r' is needed at the end of "parakalo" (first person, present tense of "I'm requesting/asking/please"). Lastly, the same meaning can be equally effectively conveyed in #3 without the need of "ego" (meaning "I"), and probably not "thelo" either as it's kinda implied, due to Greek always featuring suffixes across person, number and tense in verb conjugation, which renders the need for personal pronouns moot most of the time in this fashion. And now you got me to forget that and start ranting about grammar -cheeky bastard :p!

X-chan, I think we've ruined Pegasus. Look at him. He was perfectly polite and eloquent - until we started doing horrible things, like posting Coldplay videos, campaigning for Nutella on ONS maps, or threatening offering to visit him. And now he is cussing and using insults... :o

You know, I can spit out stuff that would make a sailor blush, missy; it's just that I don't usually see the need to do so.

Ah you had BNC LAN? You were lucky! (Not wanting to ape the famous Monty Python Yorkshire men sketch ) In my day we had 2 PCs connected with a null modem cable to play Doom (back in 94) on a 486SX 25MHz with a whopping 170 MB HDD, 4 MB RAM...my rich friend had the holy grail of a 486DX 66MHz and together we'd spend ages trying to get the right sort of serial cable, sort COM ports etc...those were the days  We might get an hour or so of playing after 5 hours of messing about getting the things to communicate!

Athens would be nice, I've never been to Greece... :D

On a more serious note, it would be nice if we could have some kind of CEONNS get together to celebrate 10 years of UT2k4. However, maybe somewhere in Germany would be better as it's more central? We could rent a place for the weekend, fill it with PCs and have pizzas on tap...

My apologies for my crimes against the Greek language. In my defence, it was just from my recall of a CD I listened to in the car whilst driving about 1 year ago and I didn't resort to Google translator. Damn! Forgot the "then" for not...grrr :)

I wanted to learn some Greek for a wedding I was going to be attending, but it got called off. :(

My old boss was Greek and I asked him to teach me some, but all he would tell me to say was "Ela malaka" and then laughed. I've still got no idea what it means...
