Nice one Eman! I would definitely be interested in joining. As a student I would probably be able to create some free time for this.

Thanks! That's great!elect wrote:I am "in"

Current state of intel from my Mum is 3 phone sockets on the ground floor, but only one confirmed as working and that one is too far away from the dining table to be of use (unless you can extend an extension...?). Currently state of bandwidth seems sad, too. Good enough for my little bro to game online, but not enough for all of us. Will talk to my Dad about that.... they need better internet anyway!

Table won't be an issue. We have a large table that can be extended, plus a table outside on the porch, one smaller dining table and there's still my table in my old room (if push comes to shove). Chairs should also be there for 12 people.
Tentative list of participants:
EmanReleipS
vmgNarra (aka little bro)
Elect
Xac
Funky
Karma
qoop
Khoma
Possibly:
Dally
Somewhat less likely:
Peggy
One or two more people could join us, but then we're pretty much full or need to switch location.
Shops and places to eat are a bit father away....10 minutes by foot. Downside of living in a purely residential area. I'm brainstorming for food I can cook for so many.... xD

If we're just 9 people, you won't need to. If we end up with more than 9, we have some sleeping bags as well. My family is well-prepared for many visitors (we have a large extended family). But we're in serious need of LAN cables. It would be good if everyone could bring one at least. I'll also have a copy of UT ready in case someone will forget to install it on his laptop.elect wrote:I have a sleepbag, I can sleep there in order to leave place to some other nub

Has anyone any particular preference for dates? I suggest the last one in March, 21st to 23rd. That way people will have more time to plan ahead, have diaries clear, get the logistics sorted and get cheap travel, plus it will be after the 16th, ie the game's original launch date. We could even have this get together as a rehearsal for a bigger event during the summer, where we could hire a venue, if more people are up for that? (Hopefully one with more than a single shower
)
The only problem with Eman's place is that the internet is not great. If we had only 9 or 10 players and couldn't all get online with huge bandwidth per person, would that be a problem for any of those that have shown an interest so far?

Yeah, we should be good as long as we feel like we have enough players to stay off-line. Peggy, you really don't wanna come?elect wrote: The internet is not really a problem, we will host our own server, so it wont be us complaining for the bad ping![]()
(If I feel like we could use more players, I have a second-oldest brother I might be able to recruit on short notice. He got me into UT2004, after all.)
We can also see if we have other games besides UT we can play (the heresy!

Yepp! That's indeed the purpose! Although this meeting will be interesting because we will have two or three rather new additions to our community (Funky and qoop, and Dally if he can come). Average age seems to be around 24/25 years old... I'm really excited about this, although my oldest brother laughed that I was organizing a LAN party ("We did that when we were in High School") and my Dad said "Don't you do those things online by now?".elect wrote:However, I guess the primary target in this things is just getting know each others physically (please do not misunderstand, rot) after spent ages playing always together

I spent years gaming UT online without really getting to know anyone. But somehow, everyone (including myself) has really opened up during the last year (I blame Ani for this development). I think having this opportunity to meet some fellow gamers offline is great.
The cards spoke to you? :oelect wrote:I will bring also some cards, I will show you some funny card games :bounce: because they told me there is a life OUT THERE BEYOUND UT!!!111!

We also have some board games here, if you'd like some classic gaming.

And two guitars, Funky! Both acoustic, one with 12 strings...
