The Balancer system

Post by borgqueenx »

Okay, i like the balancer remembers who made what score to put him/her in the according team. Although please whoever made that script, make it so it remembers premanently. You guys have AntiTCC yes? then that application knows what player is binded to a unique serial key...
Well what if the balancer could remember an unique serial key? Or similar...That way the balancer could maybe forever remember someone's skill and just remember overall scores. So that he can be put in a time accordingly.
I know i talked about this ingame some time ago, but cant rmember the details and if i mentioned this way. I forget alot... :?

I dont like that when i join, the balancer thinks me for a noob and puts me in a shit team the next match(because i join late or something).
Same with other mates i see joining. They are pro's like many people on CEONSS but still they are being put in the noobs, wich will result in a unbalanced match - wich we all hate.

Although the system is clearly working for many players online. the people who join dont make a really big difference and the people who stayed until next match(when server is close to full) will have a nice balanced match wich usally results in the timer being enabled. wich are the best matches.

Well this is a forum, so lets discuss :) Ofcource the boss of the server decides, just giving ideas to this great server with almost no lag and a shitload of nice maps :)

hey borg.

first off - why did you make a new post and not post in the existing thread? I hope heinz can move this here to actual thread... otherwise this will get very confusing. please use the search function next time!

secondly: I honestly do not get your point... It doesn't matter when you join a match, the balancer compares the players' pph and will shuffle the teams on the next map based on that. Even if you did not manage to score and your pph might be 0 - you are put in strong team with high-pph-people! So even if you did not play for 2 days (which is the amount of days EvenMatch remembers your average PPH) it only takes one map to have a new bassline for you.

thirdly: agree with you on the balanced matches. back and forth action is nice and comebacks also... go underdogs! but to be honest, comebacks are mostly possible when the balance shifts, and that happens when 1 or 2 very strong ppl join the losing team or switch to it, which I rarely see. ofc everyone hates losing, but not when the game went full 30 mins. what I personally hate is ppl joining the winning team, that should be punished somehow but oh well.

don't forget one thing: often tankmaps (where even noobs can score high due to blatant spamming) are followed by NV maps and that's where the balancer naturally cannot work, since most of the tank whores are bunny hopping flak/rocket sprayers and suck on foot, so balance can only be achieved when people dare to switch to the obviously weaker team (which, unfortunately, not many people do!). this could only be impeded when EvenMatch would store each player's pph PER MAP - but this would exceed the storage and is just not doable.

what about players that don't come back? why store their data forever? this would be totally redundant! the current 48h-save is more than enough!
just play every 2 days or more and you shouldn't worry...

to sum it all up: I like the way it is now, we just have to set the players' minds to balance by themselves, you know?

Thats where we have different opinions. Storing an average pph doesnt comsume mb's and would be better then getting it from the last match.
And is it really pph or just score?

whats the problem in joining the weaker team? there is no fun when all the good players are in the same team like you say.

the problem is that you cant switch teams if both teams got a equal player count. wich is likely in most situations. plus switching is lame if you already fight for your team after a minute.

uhm, what? no! vice versa - it's lame when you don't switch to the weaker team whenever you get the opportunity! that doesn't make you a traitor but a brave man.
plus it will probably help you to get better.

Meh i dont agree with that, although i understand why you say so.
You guys are pros as well. If i would be a noob and winning and you switch so that we lose, i would not have a feeling of a good match. Unless you switch early when you had little value for the team.

Oh and i made a new topic because i didnt found the other one first. I didnt search alot of it either since this is such a small forum. Sorry:(

borg, you ARE a noob

and if I get that right and you're basically saying a good match is only one you have won, that's just bollocks man
good matches are the overtime-ones. one team being dominated the whole match through might be fun for the winning team, but think about the losing team!

and switching early or not doesn't make a big difference... in fact, on many maps the early minutes are the most crucial! you still gotta learn alot young padawan

Maps that have a big advantage when almost having all nodes, are bad. Like the badwolf garbage spam map. And massdestruction.
Ofcource having a small advantage is no problem this is why base usally has some good amount of good stuff.

And no you didnt read my right, please read again^^ i like a balanced matched with no switches- because they shouldny be nessacary in the first place. At least i hope that will be possible one day.
I already said that the overtime matches are the best.

And btw: these spam maps can be fun for a deathmatch like spam round, to catch a breath between the real big battlezones wich i like the most.
