been busy in the real world the last two years, so coming back to ut2k4 I regretfully noticed, that some beloved servers
are down, down, down - forever - with seemingly only CEONSS left as a last beacon for the faithfull...
Now, what was I going to say ? Ah maps, yes...
Well, after playing here for some time now (again) I just wanted to say that meanwhile I DO miss some sets
dearly and I was wondering, if there is some support for my suggestions and, if that's the case - some of the admins
could look into the possibility of maybe adding
a couple (or all - rubbing hands) of them to the rooster once more...
So here we go...
halo blood-gulch
v1 landing zone
darkwood forest (all time favorite)
mass destruction
spam box
rail
ravine
and, well... can't remember the name... tank map with a battlefield in
the middle and respectively one of the power nodes inside a bunker...
(also, on a side note - since good ol' master bath is on the roster - any chance to get the version with the tunnels up ? )
some / most of the maps are of course pretty small and not suited for a 32p load - so I thought,
maybe - if there's nothing else to say against their inclusion - since there are often times (regrettably enough though),
when there's less than 20 or 16 ppl playing - maybe it is possible to instruct the server to exclude these small maps as
soon as the player-count exceeds a given number of players...
( coming to think of it, perhaps that could work the other way round as well - excluding some of the big maps when the player-count
is insufficient... it really sucks sometimes if for instance star reach is voted
in with just 12 ppl online and half of them (including myself) eventually leaving the server out of boredom...
for instance - darkwood forest (relatively small map) stays online as long as there are no more then 14 active players and two or four spectators
online... (gosh, where are the days when there were always spectators on the server waiting to join the action ?)
perhaps, to give a reason for why I liked to play these less tactical maps occasionally - well, after playing a couple of the big maps
in a row, where you always have to walk or fly huge distances and end up fighting with only just two or three other players for any given node,
it just felt good occasionally to just drop the tactics (and the brain) for a while and just pull the trigger no matter what, some
sort of occasional Catharsis I reckon... lots of action in a small area focused on only a couple of nodes...
So, hoping for some feedback of course, best wishes to all and keep up the good work...
greetz...
