I just watched APPLESEED ALPHA movie...pfff, it is a great movie..It is a computer-animated military science fiction film. I highly recommend it. Will be on Blue ray/DVD on 27 Oct.
I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying every minute of it.
Hmm, seems we're wandering off the "funny" territory again, even in a nominal sense, which already a few times in the past has made me wonder whether this thread's title may be a bit too restrictive with all the impressive and worthwhile non-musical, non-comedic videos it may've been preventing ppl from posting (something to consider for later?), but to bring things back on track for now, why not take a look at some of this year's Saxxy awards winners for some quality funny stuff?
Since a quick search shows the Saxxy's haven't been mentioned before here, in case anyone's not familiar with 'em, they're a yearly contest that Valve's been holding since 2011 where ppl are invited to create short in-engine/machinima videos using the Source Filmmaker, which is the same software Valve used for their own promotional "Meet the [TF2 class]" videos, and, I believe, only assets from Valve's games (i.e., the Half-Life, Portal, TF2 and L4D series, maybe some additional user-generated stuff pertaining to 'em too), and can compete with their submitted entries in 5 categories: Short, Action, Comedy, Drama and Overall Best. Although the 2014 winning productions announced a few days ago are on average a notch below yesteryear's offerings IMO, there's still some great vids to enjoy that have been put together by ppl with a clear knack for good visual storytelling, both among winners as well as other runner-ups, so here's a few choice picks below now to get you in the mood, should you care to dig for more :
Rivalry Rush (Saxxy 2014, Action Winner)
Animation vs. Animator (Saxxy 2014, Best Overall Winner)
For comparison, here's the Best Overall winner for the 2013 Saxxy's, Lil Guardian Pyro
I came across this video which is a cinematic for a game called War Thunder.
Don't know too much about the game but it seems to be a mostly russian game which focuses on WW2 aircraft and tank combat.
The cinematic they made I think is awesome, check it out:
(Oh and put it on high resolution will ya)
Edit: Sorry for wandering off the 'funny' part of the topic again Pegasus, but it seems too much to create a new topic just to share the video.
Maybe edit the title or create a new topic for video's such as this?
