"Claire de lune" ("Moonlight", early name "Promenade Sentimentale"), 3rd movement from Claude Debussy's "Suite bergamasque".
This suite was originally created in 1980, when Debussy started to learn music theory from Emile Durand (yeah, there is a StarCraft character named after him), but the suite was revised and published only in 1905.
The interesting thing about Debussy is that he was among first musicians to criticize the traditional music theory and try something original (impressionism in this case), and, in turn, he was criticized by traditional music society and later was respected and glorified.
The other interesting thing is impressionism was considerably influenced by absinth and other strong & cheap alcohol, so maybe there is some connection in this case, too
.
Also, the way Debussy died is, well... let's just say he died during bombardment of Paris by German army, and you can google the rest.
