getting banned because of a GOG.com cd key

i know this is not your problem but soon some service it will be i think many ut2004 servers are required steam cd keys but i dont have steam never have never will i wonder if i could install a ut2004 game cd from ebay used and use the cd key there instead and that would be the same as steam cd key so servers wont bann me. and i wonder if i could go to regedit and edit the cd key after i buy from ebay and i ask the person i bought it from the cd key ahead of time before getting the cd game package that was made in 2004 or 2008 ish. id apreacite your help

• You don't need steam. No one will know if you use Steam, or not.
• You can use a key you have from steam with any other installation without steam.
• You can also use a legal buy from GOG, after writing there service that you want an online key, because you payed for it. They will than send you a registry file.
• You can move the files to another location and use them without any third party app like gog or steam.
• Used games key could be banned, don't have to. Because there may was one who violated the server rules in the past, for example the previous owner, or when the key got spread over the web.

We really can't tell if you are on Steam or not. UT is actually not even available on Steam in Germany, so most likely none of the German players on CEONSS have one. Never had any problems with my retail key.

Your problem is not with Steam, but rather with the default GOG key. That one is banned on some servers, such as Omni. Just contact GOG about a custom key. They will send one to you. Of course you could also try to buy something on Ebay, but there is a chance the seller isn't genuine. Better to contact the GOG customer service.
