Weapon Bindings

Hi there,
I spectated a little today, and saw Timbo who didn't use keybinds for weapon switching
So here a link for all, who didn't use them so far.
http://www.tcpclan.net/phpforum/viewtop ... 8c1040854b
You can also use the "SwitchWeapon" in the .ini instead of the "pipedSwitchWeapon" if you would like to bind only one weapon to a key.
Everybody should know how to do this for the sake of fairness :letskiss:
Greetings,
Rotten

I am currently setting up a new User.ini and I wonder if there is a way to start up ut2004.exe using a different ini every time e.g. one exe for onslaught and one for deathmatch/TAM using different startup parameters. Does anyone know anything about that?
I also uploaded some UT2004.inis and User.inis of different (pro)gamers for those who like
I am currently trying to get used to a modified version of luxxiz´s inis
- inis.rar
- (1.86 MiB) Downloaded 622 times
EDIT: here is my config:
- WASD for movement
- after dying I spawn with Shieldgun in hand
- buttons 1 to 9 are still weapons 1 to 9 because i switch positions with them while occupying vehicles
G=PrevWeapon(zooming in while occupying vehicles)
B=NextWeapon(zooming out while occupying vehicles)
E=Use
C=Duck
Y=PlayVehicleHorn 0
X=PlayVehicleHorn 1
N=ShowVoteMenu
F1=ShowScore
Circumflex=ThrowWeapon
Tab=AVRIL
Caps=BioRifle
Shift=LinkGun (switched primary and secondary fire mode here)
Ctrl=Minigun
Q=FlakCannon
R=RocketLauncher (I changed the priority of the RL in order to get it before AVRIL if i hit "R")
PressMouseWheel=Shieldgun
ScrollMouseWheelUp=LightningGun
ScrollMouseWheelDown=ShockRifle
F=SniperRifle (LG if empty)
T=GrenadeLauncher (switched primary and secondary fire mode here)
V=MineLayer
Z=SuperShockRifle
The config applies to DM, TDM, TAM and ONS so there is no need at this moment to change between ONS and DM configs e.g.

Mouse 4-link gun
Mouse 5-minigun(never use it tho)
Middle mouse-Sniper/Lightning
Alt-Shield

I'm using this layout:
q - shield gun
1 - lighting/sniper
2 - redeemer/ion/target painter
3 - flak
4 - rocket/avril
5 - link
6 - shock
7 - minigun
8 - bio
9 - assault
I can't figure out how someone may play without fast switch... In duel you will die faster than choose wanted gun by scrolling mouse wheel

I've got more fingers than i have brain cells so i'll stick to the mouse wheel, but thanks for the heads up Rotten.

Just out of interest, does anyone else here use their arrow keys rather than wasd?

Arrow keys have sence for left-handed man, who holds mouse in left hand and keyboard in right. But it also makes hardly switching the weapons with keyboard - there are a gap around arrow keys, it's too far to stretch fingers for surrounding keys.
Anyway, I am a right-handed, and use WASD. However I tried to move to SDFE - it makes more keys available for ring-finger and little finger, but habit of using WASD overpowered this attempt

I am right-handed and use the arrow keys in pretty much every game. The gap makes it easier to get a feeling for surrounding keys and reposition your hand without having to look.
Arrow keys for movement, the lower half of the numpad block for special abilities and crouch/prone control, Shift and CTRL for commonly used movement like jumping and sprinting, the sixblock above the arrow keys for inventory menus and similar (i.e. stuff where I can let go of the arrow keys for a moment to use it) and the Enter key and the keys next to it for Use and stuff that depends on the game and that need rather quick access.

Just found this topic. I'm right-handed too and I use arrow keys instead of the wasd keys.

Problem with using the arrow keys instead of WASD though is, you immediately forfeit something like 7 useful, proximal keys you could've assigned additional, vital actions to. If your reaction time expectations are lower, I say go for what's more convenient/ergonomic for you. If, however, you truly mean to optimize your workflow so you can perform as best as possible, staying with the arrow keys isn't much of a choice.
