Short response: you want CEONSS to force a 12MB download on everyone for what practically amounts to little more than an audiovisual makeover of the stock arsenal? How do you think ppl would take that?

Long response: Personally, I've been aware of this pack for a while now and as soon as I tested it, I could only think of one thing: "what's the point?" Weaps are slightly shinier or more dark/badass lit through another combiner overlaid on top of their normal look, the projectiles' visual effects got pimped to near anime-levels and now everything's 20% cooler 50-100% stronger in terms of damage. So? Why do that and expect it'll impact gameplay in any way other than just by speeding up players' death/respawn cycles? Also, did we watch the same video when the airstrike arrived? I dunno about you, but for me, "lulz" and "no" were the words that came to mind :/. Besides, the gameplay impact I mentioned would only be the first tumble down a slippery path since, assuming such a package was adopted by a server early on, it's reasonable to expect mappers would soon begin plopping dozens more of health and shield pickups all over the place just to extend the action. You literally would end up with an arms race between an arsenal that does more damage and a collection of pickups that buff ppl up to withstand it. If any of that sounds vaguely familiar, it should because that's exactly what has been Omni's telltale problemtrait for years now, only the ONS gameplay aspect that disease hit was the vehicles. At any rate, the symptoms end up the same, as in everyone who isn't using the souped up gear in any map they're found (read almost all, by virtue of mappers gradually becoming trend victims) shouldn't expect balanced fights with anyone else who'd sport it, thereby drawing lines between the haves and have-nots ("enhanced" LG vs standard equals to mino/bio drivers vs goliath users) and worsening gameplay quality in the end for all, whether they'd care to admit it or not. As a result, some walk away muttering to themselves stuff like "fuck this funny shit", some skilled ppl remain and start abusing the new stuff to ridiculous extents (thereby proving to everyone the error of their imbalanced preferences) and the rest slowly form a cultidentity around that new state of affairs, kinda like Stockholm Syndrome sufferers.

It's best to just not go down that road from the beginning and, if your people are interested in fresh content, try to get your community creators to channel their craft toward actual innovation instead of rote iteration. In other words, show me actually new and original weaponry that forces ppl to think differently when using 'em and I'll be the first in line to lobby for their inclusion. Grabbing the same stuff and cranking up the dials to 11 should get modders vilified, not idolized.

Well I haven't used the enhanced pack myself but I've witnessed it on another players PC and I really didn't see anything to shout about.

Anything that increases damage is a very thing, if anything there should be reductions in some weapons - I'm getting increasingly pissed off getting fragged by flak cannon 'shots' from long distance knocking 20-30% off my health when the lazy feckers doing aren't even aiming ffs!

| do agree with peg that disproportionate increases in the weapons damage / health balance is doomed to horrible failure and abuse.

Currently we face an almost epidemic of some players just lazing, laming and spawn killing their way to getting huge score & kill figures, I think there needs to be action taken against tis negative gameplay , I'm not a ragequitter normally but even I've left having been spawnkilled 12 times in a row by Adonis (to name but one) knowing he'll keep doing it because no one will do anything to tell him it's just not decent honest gameplay.

cmon that's not really fair man. I've observed AdoniS undercover now for a dozens times, I've never seen him spawnkiling so many times yet. Sorry if I haven't been on when that happened. A demo would've been quite helpful then - if you want him to be temp-banned. However, he has been warned ingame for base-laming and I'll keep on watching him.

Yep, than noob mino spawnkilling makes me angry. Such players should be banned automatically :) Maybe it is possible to write a mutator that detects enormous number of kills on locked nodes/core and kickban that noob.
PS: maybe move these talks about spawnkillers to proper place?

And Heinz, you should write some basic rules in the MOTD. this short dialoge tells you that players think that there are no rules on the server. we were playing magicisle before this match

[P]etya - if you fancy a change, give the LDG-Ballistic Freon/JB server a go sometime - its NV-only with some very cool weapons (including many more realistic ones, particularly assault rifles). I usually alternate between playing that server and CEONSS. However, I don't think the Ballistic mod (or similar) would add anything here other than a huge download time and some server lag.
