A flying flamethrower: the Draco

Post by Wormbo »

Alright, I'm trying out something new. Since I don't have any proper models for a flame tank, I'll try to create a flying fire-breathing dragon instead. ;)

The Draco is a Cicada-style aircraft with flamethrowers as the pilot's main weapon. The aircraft is more agile than a standard Cicada and will eventually be able to use an afterburner feature to quickly approach potential victims. This is important because the flamethrower only has limited range. At least it burns hot enough to distract AVRiL rockets, similar to a Cicada's decoys.
Granted, a flamethrower on an aircraft doesn't sound like a great idea, and I'm pretty sore the vehicle will not have much success if only manned by a single player. The gunner seat of the Draco controls a rocket pack that will be able to fire Napalm Rockets. As the name suggests, these burst into a shower of sticky burning liquid on impact. Anyone and anything unfortunate enough to stand next to a Napalm Rocket impact is likely going to die either immediately or shortly afterwards.

A cool feature I always liked about UT3 vehicles is the automatic landing when the pilot bails out in mid-air. The Draco will come to a halt and slowly descend for a relatively soft touch-down.
Hmm, that gives me an idea - are there any parachute-like mods for UT2004 already? :D

This vehicle is in an early stage, so I can only provide a video clip of its features for now:

But that will remove the sweet pleasure of having a Cicada/Raptor that you have just left crush an opponent

Yes there is. Often used in Invasion RPG. I am not sure if this is the one that I have played with sometimes:

but if you are really interested, I will take a look on the external HDD where I have stored most of my UT2004 stuff.
