All these maps, most seem to be from 2004, does not seem to be buggy, set apart for the meteor fps on less powerful pc
well now i need a good beer to treat all this :slurp:

Great work GL

ONS-Caelum

5/5 Airmars replacement. Good balance - 32/12 people.

ONS-Cruiser_VL-5

Nice map - needs new link setup.

ONS-MeteorCity

Not sure about this one at all. Needs a new link setup but i think that would clash with the design of the map.

ONS-Outback

It's a very good map, but it needs a new link setup to work on CEONSS and i think that would undermined the design of the map.

ONS-Perimeter

4/5 Almost perfect. Only problem is the choke point at the centre of the map.

ONS-RangerSEMSU

5/5 Feels a bit like Junglehill2 which is no bad thing.

ONS-WarLords

Didn't like this map. Not enough ammo/ vehicles, new link setup needed and over-all it just feels like a bit of a mess.

Feedback is hugely appreciated. Excellent review BTW although avrils maybe a bit too much of an advantage with all the valleys.

Thankfully i have no say in what maps are on CEONSS, if i did this would be a spambox 24/7 with the ballistic mod :D
Peg wrote:Still, while crowdsourcing is a great way to expand one's horizons in terms of previously unknown content, there is one favour I'd like to ask of anyone taking the time to seek out good candidate maps for the roster and tell us about em here. Instead of just offering a DL link and maybe an obstructed pic with the node layout (:p), maybe try to also do a quick review of the map and outline what it's got going for it - in terms of aesthetics, geometry arrangement, gameplay balance, other unique innovative mechanics, etc. - and what kind of editing tweaks it might need to bring it up to snuff with the server's standards. Considering your suggestion would be competing for space with existing maps, highlighting its advantages over current content would probably be an efficient way to make your case. Nothing too crazy or long either, just 3-4 lines of text should suffice. If anyone's game for that but can't nail down a good enough method for doing that, I can even post a couple of older reviews from our own internal thread about exactly that issue to see what we tend to seek out and focus on.
Understood. Will do in future :D
Wormbo wrote:Why do some of those map archives include packages that must be considered stock content nowadays? (i.e. ECE bonus pack stuff)
There's a lot of players here who perhaps have never downloaded any extra content and rely on their cache for such files. I thought it would be better to be safe then sorry.

Thanks Cat :)

I just tried another couple of maps.

Definitely.
It has a very interesting 3D design (asteroids with nodes on different levels), not flat at all (like Airmars, that is kind of flat, and it's boring sometime). And there are lots of fun things to do: to fight with land vehicles on the biggest asteroids, to fly from asteroid to asteroid, to stand on foot at random asteroids firing with Avrils and trying to not fall down when the asteroid rotates... Just fun. :yoman:

I didn't noticed any superweapon at all, am I right?

If I really had to point some flaws:

1) the borders of the maps are very close to the peripheral nodes on the small asteroids. So: not a lot to space to fly, there; and it's a shame. Same thing when you go down a lot.

2) footmans may have a really hard time on this map. There aren't a lot of covers from the flyiers, and the map is big so going on foot may be too suicidal. Maybe some jumping pods, and some tunnels on the three big asteroids, could help.

ONS-RangerSEMSU

5/5 Feels a bit like Junglehill2 which is no bad thing.
Nothing to say: IS. JUST. FUN. :wohoo: :skip: :yippiiieh:

Lots of roads, hills, tunnels, bridges, turrets, rivers, vehicles... Please add it to CEONSS :D

I guess map extents are the easiest part to fix. Particularly space map limits could be made less painful for flyers by adding ForcedDirVolumes to them.

ONS-Twilight-Second-Edition

Download: ONS-Twilight-Second-Edition

Really good open map set in a arid, mountainous bowl.

A reasonable amount of ammo and a balanced selection of vehicles. Small enough to walk across but large enough for some good old fashioned vehicle ONS. Would be a good replacement for Crossfire t32 as it's similar in size and theme but offers better balance.

ONS-Xorion

A small, tidy, very open map with lot's of Mantas, Hellbenders, Raptors and two tanks making for some fast and brutal game-play.

ONS-TWMushroomForest

This one isn't suited for CEONSS for a variety of reasons, but it's definitely worth a mention. Set in a cartoon theme mushroom forest with interesting custom vehicles. An excellent imaginative map.

ONS-MoonLight

Download: ONS-MoonLight

A genuinely beautiful looking map which really does capture the full moon at night look. Has everything a CEONSS map should have, open, enough vehicles and ammo for 32p, balanced, no map bugs found while testing etc

ONS-Uallyr

Download: ONS-Uallyr

Based around a large courtyard, it offers very different dynamics to the usual DM maps as it's not as linear as the likes of BridgeOfFate or Stonewall. Would probably be a good replacement for Foundry_beta5.

ONS-UA-Rexor

Download: ONS-UA-Rexor

This one is slightly different from the rest as it's nodes are very open but it offers vehicles such as the Leviathan which should help people hold on to a node while their team mates attack the next node. Could offer some interesting game play.

Hmm, MoonLight might be a little too flat. Nodes 4 and 5 can attack each other easily, same goes for the pairs 2/7 and 1/7. The 2/7 pair even has a wide-open view from node to node. The other pairs have at least a hill or some trees inbetween.
